For straight-forward, everyday, easy to fill roles most agencies tend to offer a contingent recruitment service, you’ll be familiar with how this operates. It’s a ‘no-placement-no fee’ service, often in conjunction with other suppliers. There is no commitment on either side, and it works relatively well for easy to fill positions.
However, that is not how we work. When things get a little more challenging, whether it be a difficult geographic location, a niche skill-set, a critical hire, or for senior, confidential, urgent, or multiple hires, we apply a search methodology. Retained search is our headhunting service and for some clients we act as an extension of, or in place of, a talent acquisition team, either for a period of growth or on an on-going basis. Essentially some financial commitment from you enables us to apply a robust search process. And most importantly to commit to working with you until the positions are filled.
Working with you on a retained basis makes absolutely sure that we source, engage and secure the best candidate for each appointment. It is essentially best practice headhunting.
It begins with a full briefing session involving all stakeholders to define and agree on the parameters of the search and process including; full role profile, functional and behavioural competencies, geography, target companies (and any off limits) timeline, process and most importantly your EVP (Employer Value Proposition) – what messages are we taking to this talent pool.
Once we’re clear on the scope of the search, we cast a net over the talent pool and identify every candidate across the geographical location who looks to have the right skill set to meet the criteria. We then systematically and professionally approach every single candidate using multiple methods, including direct, but professional headhunting, to gain as much interest in the opportunity as possible. The whole process is transparent, we share with you, every week, our progress - a spreadsheet showing every candidate. We can collect whatever data you would like – salaries, benefits, bonuses, perception of your brand in the market, and if faced with challenge, we will work with you to re-steer the search accordingly.
Ultimately, a long list of candidates emerges who have been assessed against the brief, both functionally and behaviourally, and are interested in the opportunity. From this longlist, we will jointly agree a shortlist of 3 -5 for you to interview. You will be confident you are making your hire from the best of the talent available to you at this time.
